Archaeological Park of Cosa

The Archaeological Park of Cosa preserves the 273 BC Roman colony and its cyclopean walls, featuring a museum at Porta Fiorentina and a route through ancient houses, baths, and the Forum that leads up the Via Sacra to the Arce for views of Argentario and Orbetello.

The National Archaeological Museum of Cosa is closed from January 7, 2026, until next spring for renovation work. The Archaeological Park is open during its usual hours (Tuesday to Sunday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., last admission at 4:30 p.m.).

National Archaeological Museum of Cosa

Inaugurated in 1981 through a collaboration between Italy and the American Academy in Rome, the expanded National Archaeological Museum of Cosa displays finds ranging from the port to the necropolis, including notable temple decorations and a unique skeleton of a young woman with celiac disease.

Roselle Archaeological Park

Located ten kilometers from Grosseto near the Ombrone River, the Roselle Archaeological Park tells the story of an Etruscan city founded in the 7th century BC that evolved into a Roman center with walls, a forum, and an amphitheater before its eventual abandonment in 1138.

Vetulonia Archaeological Park

Perched at 340 meters above the ancient Lake Prile, the Vetulonia Archaeological Park features Etruscan settlements and monumental tombs along a route through Scavi Città, Costia de’ Lippi, and Costa Murata, concluding at the Via dei Sepolcri with the famous Belvedere, Diavolino II, and Pietrera tombs.

The Tomb of Diavolino II is temporarily closed. We apologize for the inconvenience.
