MetisTeatro APS presents on SATURDAY, May 24, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Necropolis of Porto in Isola Sacra (Fiumicino) the theatrical guided tour AENEAS THE TROJAN, AENEAS THE STRANGER.
The event includes a tour through the funerary buildings of the archaeological site, where the audience, guided by the performers, can pause to listen to the words of myth. Against the evocative backdrop of the Necropolis of Porto, brief dramatic scenes and powerful monologues will alternate, leading the spectators through an emotional and immersive experience. The protagonist is Aeneas—his journey, his exodus from a land in flames and at war, and his search for a better future, a promised land.
The performance will evoke the most symbolic moments of Aeneas’s myth—from his descent into the Underworld, to his encounters with Dido, his father Anchises, Deiphobus, and the recollection of the night when it all ended, up to the hero’s landing on the Lazio coast and the celebration of the Roman lineage—in a powerful and emotionally impactful journey. Aeneas the Trojan, Aeneas the Stranger offers a cultural and literary voyage into the themes of “the other,” the traveler, the migrant, the foreigner, drawing attention to the modern relevance of Aeneas, founder of Rome, survivor of the Trojan War, a refugee—an eternal symbol of those who seek safety from lands in flames.
